I started cycling at the age of 10 with Newport Velo Youth Cycling Club in Wales. It was great having an indoor velodrome right on my doorstep and I quickly get addicted to riding my bike. During these early years I tried my hand at track, road and cyclo cross learning the specific skills and just generally enjoying just being on my bike. My parents were really supportive and we would often spend weekends travelling the UK doing track & road in the summer followed by cyclo cross in the winter. My biggest achievement in the early years was the Isle of Man Youth Tour, which I managed to win as an Under 14 girl. I realise now that I'd managed to put all those skills learnt in the first couple of years all together over the 3 days to get that elusive top podium position.
“Keep your dreams alive. Understand to achieve anything requires faith and belief in yourself, vision, hard work, determination, and dedication. Remember all things are possible for those who believe.” Gail Devers, US Olympian (Track & Field)
As I gained greater confidence and experience on the bike, results started to come through on the track, road and in cyclo cross. I'd struggled with dyslexia in school and my cycling became a great way to build my confidence and improve my organisational skills. I progressed onto the British Cycling Talent Team then onto the the Olympic Development Programme (ODP) where I was luckly enough to compete globally. As part of the Welsh Cycling Junior Programme and then the ODP in 2013, I won the UCI Junior Women's Energie Wacht Tour and was a Gold Medalist at the World Junior Track Championships in the Team Pursuit as part of the GB quartet.
From 2013 until 2015 I was a member of the GB Academy programme and was lucky enough to ride as part of the young GB team in the 1st Friends Life Womens Tour of Britain. For 2015 & 2016 I rode as part of the Team Rytger Danish UCI Road Team, gaining invaluable experience in the UCI Women's World Cup Races on the continent. For the 2017 season I'm looking forward to being a senior rider with the new UK based Team OnForm Cycling Team.
To unwind and relax I enjoy playing with nail art designs, drawing and photography as well as spending time at home baking with my mum.
